SLS fuses nylon powder with a laser, and the unfused powder supports the part as it prints. There are no support structures to remove, no support scars, and almost no geometry restrictions. Parts come out strong enough for end-use: clips that flex, hinges that work, housings that survive drops.
That freedom enables print-in-place assemblies, moving mechanisms printed as one piece, with a minimum clearance of 0.3 mm between moving surfaces.
Because sintered nylon is tough and reasonably isotropic, SLS parts behave like injection-moulded prototypes: living hinges, snap fits, and load-bearing brackets all work. Walls can go to 0.5 mm, with 1.0 mm recommended for structural integrity.
Standard finishing includes de-powdering; bead blasting, spray painting, and threaded insert installation are available for production-quality surfaces and assembly features.
SLS nests many parts into one build, making it economical for batches of ten to a few hundred: bridge production while your injection mould is being cut, or final production for low-volume products. SLA/SLS builds typically add 24 hours for cleaning and finishing after printing.
